Addresses when applying

Hey everyone,

I want to apply for a new credit card, but have a question as to how to fill out the address section of the application form. My situation is as follows:

1) I lived in a certain address for 3 years: From Oct 2005 to Jun 2008. I was registered at the electoral roll at this address (Address 1)
2) I lived at a temporary address for 3 months, from Jul 2008 to mid Sep 2008. I was NOT registered at the electoral roll at this address (Address 2)
3) I have been at my current address since mid Sep 2008, where I have registered on the electoral roll.

On my credit files (I access them through checkmyfile.com), I can see that there is information on me being at the electoral roll in address 1, and there are some address links and Royal Mail matches to address 2 (my current address will be added on the roll on the 1st of December)

So my question is: When applying for a new credit card (of course I will wait until I can see I am registered on the roll for my current address), should I put in details of my stay at Address 2? Or should I state that I moved from Address 1 directly to my current address (ie that is what the electoral roll info says)?

Thank you to all those who may help me with this!

  • If people have to include temporary addresses on application forms then that's a bit ridiculous. Perhaps I should add the address I stayed at while on holiday earlier this year and my mother's address too since I spent a week staying with her a few months ago...
  • Hey thanks for your reply.

I take your point, but I just want to make sure that my 3 months stay at Address 2 will be seen as a temporary address, especially after I changed my credit card, bank account and mobile phone addresses for those 3 months.

    Thanks!

If that was me I would include the temp addy as with Lloyds TSB I applied for an account and didn't include temp address and the application got refered (tmp addy has Royal Mail paf match on my file) she asked me if I'd lived anywhere else other than where I stated and I told her the temp addy and application was sucessful after that

    Breezy ;)
  • Thanks breezy I think I will do that then!

We were in a similar situation before we bought our current house, we were somewhere temporary for approx 3 months. I did have all my bills etc updated to reflect this temporary address.

For the next 3 years that temporary address was potentially something I could have put onto application forms, but I never did, not even once. I didn't have any applications declines or have any other issues. When asked to provide addresses for last 3 years, I just used my current address, plus the previous 'permanent' address which was the one before the temporary one.

    HTH.
