What can I do about SKY SCUMBAGS????

Here is the relatively short version of my story -
signed up to sky recently from virgin media. Salesman said we could get old BT line reactivated. BT told us we couldn't reactivate and would need to pay for new line. Rang sky and said we wished to cancel because we didn't want to pay for BT line. Sky said they would refund cost of BT installation - just fill in form they would send and sent BT's bill. Sent off form and bill which details £124.99 cost of line and line rental but broken down into £33 pcm on a DD. Bloke at Sky I spoke to last night said that a bill wouldn't do as proof of payment as it only shows what we have been charged, not what we have paid - get BT to send you proof of payment of £124.99 .
Bloke at BT said they can't sent proof for £124.99 as it is being paid per month in DD. I feel that Sky have completely stitched us up as we cannot now get out of the contract. They never mentioned at the time that we would need to get a separate receipt for the BT line installation.
We are on full tv package and have broadband with them. What to strangle someone at Sky!!! Any advice please!!!

p.s. sorry for the lenghty rant.

Can you ask BT to send you receipts for the £33pcm? Then ask Sky if they will simply refund this on a month by month basis? (e.g. deduct it from your Sky TV package)

That way you're at least not out of pocket.

Thanks for that. Will ring sky and find out.
  • I recently had to activate a BT line to sign up to sky after being promised that i would be refunded the £124.99. To be fair i have been refunded the money but they didnt send me the form straight away as they were suppose to i had to phone up and ask where it was for them to then send it to me. i guess they do try to make you "forget" about the refund but i would say persist and they will refund it.

Sneezyboots, if you don't mind me asking, did you send them a bill to get your refund or did you have to prove payment?
  • erm... well i get all my bt billing online so i just logged onto there and the bill which had the £124.99 i printed off and sent.
keep trying. as with any call centre you will get nice people and grumpy people. if you get a grumpy one, just ask to deal with someone else.

Since when do you have to pay £124.99 to reactivate a line? I've lived in many many houses, and have NEVER had to pay this charge! Only in a new build where it was the initial connection.

I'd be having words with BT!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It's the standard rate now Pinkshoes, everyone pays the same regardless of whether or not you are getting a new line installed or the current one reactivated.

Why not pay £124.99 by CC and use the refund from Sky to settle the CC bill?
