Vinyl tiles on top of laminate ?

I know (think ?) you're supposed lay vinyl floor tiles on top of hardboard and all that but the small room I'm thinking of doing has a perfectly sound, level laminate floor already in place. Can I just stick the tiles on top of it ? - or do I have to do it 'properly' ?

I would say do it properly, the vynil tiles will probably not bond to the laminate surface properly and then you will have real problems getting it all up.

Its a bit more effort, but if you want a result your happy with then I'd have to say do it properly.

Sorry to hijack your thread but I was thinking about vinyl self adhesive tiles on top of a well fitted vinyl sheet flooing and could do with advice - anyone?

Again, I would follow the guidelines on the fitting instructions, You never know if the adhesive will bond to another vynil.

In Wickes I was talking to three of their shops floor staff who all said self vinyl tiles would stick to existing sheet laminate but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may well phone the manufacturers.

I would check the manufacturers instructions if I were you, how the hell do the shop staff know that the laminate is all ok!? It could be out of tolerance in terms of level, plus loads of other things.
