AOL Video IM / Speedtouch Firewall Settings

My folks have a laptop with built in webcam but cant get it to work. Keep getting error messages relating to firewall settings.
They have a Speedtouch wireless router and are on AOL broadband.
I believe it requires ports opening on the router firewall settings.
Can anyone clarify exactly what settings need to be changed

Standard routers provided by your internet provider do not block ports or services and rarely have the actual capability. If they do they're not blocking by default. However most routers come with uPnP (Universal Plug n Play) which maps out ('maps' a route from your computer to the internet) all ports you need automatically.
What application are you trying to use for your webcam and could you possibly copy and paste the error message along with your reply so the issue can be resolved a little easier.
