How is the video connected to the digibox?
It should be via a scart lead. If so, press the channel change buttons on the video, it should eventually get to either AUX or L1(or similar). This will be the channel for recording from the digibox.(".)0 -
Yes it is connected by a scart lead.
I will have a look over the weekend preferably when my dad not there!

Connect freeview SCART to VCR SCART IN.
Connect VCR SCART out to AV1 on TV.
You will only be able to record whats being watched on the Freeview box.0 -
Thanks again for your help.
It accepts AV1 in the program but when it comes on it doesn't tape.
I will maybe have another play with it if you think it should work.
Does the Freeview box always need to be on when its taping?

If your taping any of the 5 standard channels then your Freeview box can be switched off.
The 5 terrestial anaolgue channels will tape if your RF (Aerial) lead is connected to the RF in on Freeview box (Digital Terrestial receiver), Freeview Box RF out to video RF in and Video RF Out to TV Aerial socket.
Additionally you will also have scarts connected between the Freeview & video and video & TV. However, sometimes you will also need a separate scart direct from the Freeview to the TV as well. I would also connect the video to the TV via a separate scart. Sounds complicated but is straight forward. Some trial and error is often needed to find best configuaration.
Furthermore, sometimes you need to change the input frequency so as to stop interfernece across certain channels. Again trial and error!
As stated above, to record from the Freview box it needs to be switched on or its own internal timer set to turn it to the correct channel when you are recording from it. You can only record the channel that the Freeview box is set to i.e. the one you will see on your TV screen if you turn the Freeview AV channel on. The 5 normal terrestial analogue channels can still be recorded whilt your are watching any of the 5, or the Freeview channel. This is because the video recorder has its own internal analogue tuner, whereas the Freeview Box is just like a part of your TV and you can only watch (or record) one channel at a time. The same as if you buy a combi TV/Video Set. Many people do not realise that unless it has twin tuners (the vast majority do not) you can only record the programme that the TV is tuned to or you are watching. OK if you want to record when you are out. But if you are watching BBC and want to record, say, Ch4 at the same time, forget it.
If you have Sky+ this has twin tuners and you can watch and record separate satellite digital programmes at the same time. At the moment I am not aware of any terrestial digital receiver that offers twin tuners, although it will be here soon I am sure, especially when digital terrestial PVR's are marketed, which cannot be too far away.0
