I didn't see them on springwatch, but I saw an item on Countryfile a while ago. They are apparently recovering in numbers now. I'm fairly sure they will have a "jump pounce" technique though! :D
I have a more than sneaky admiration for them.

The species suffered for many years, I think, through breeding with domestic cats.

It was Simon King (?) who came up with the "jump pounce" term, He doesn't seem the type to make it up, but I did wonder.

Do you remember the "big cat" theory of a few years ago? You don't seem to hear reports of those much any more. We were supposed to be in the middle of such an area here, but I didn't see any though. Mind you, I'm not that observant! :D

We've got a panther like animal nearby which appears in the local newspaper on quiet news days. :rotfl:

A local version of the Loch Ness monster is also seen in Lake Windermere from time to time again it appears in the paper on quiet news days.

Now Bowness is on the edge of Lake Windermere. One week a 5 year old kid wrote in to the paper to say he was disappointed that the reporter had missed a trick by not calling it Bow Nessie. :T
