Funny how you remember little things. Jennings had to read a passage aloud in English Literature and it included the word shag (as in tobacco) he couldn't do it for giggling, the more the teacher got angry the more he giggled.

I always had to sit next to "Piggy" Hansen, a portly youth, who used to get very bad exam nerves causing severe flatulence. During O levels there were times when I could hardly breathe, but neither the teachers or my parents accepted this as a plausible excuse for my dismal results.

you mus thave being more advanced than us in the North east as Shag is sea bird and that was all nothing to with sexual pleasure:D at all.

Lines, he had to write the lengthy line containing the word a hundred times. It probably put the kid off shagging for life.

It was an old fashioned Grammar school lots of discipline had to wear caps outside, to and from school. Teachers wore gowns, quadrangle, prefects, a Head that used to come storming along the corridor bellowing "Keep to the left, keep to the left" and he wasn't talking politics. Happy days.
