Why is Boxing Day thus called ? I know it's not for reasons as below as that would hardly be Christian

OH stepson and stepdaughter all away today visiting "her side", overnight stay. I'm staying here as my eldest lad is due to arrive sometime today. Such a shame enough booze to fill a brewery, enough food to feed the 5000, National Hunt racing on the box, I just don't know how to pass the time.
