i applied for child tax credit in june and to cut a long story short they messed up with the claim and when it went through in august I said i wanted to apeal it as i has been told so many different things by the people on the phone. so they sent me the appeal stuff, i sent it off 18th august, i then received a letter a week later saying that i would receive a response by 1/12/2008. so its 28/11/08 today and its not looking too hopeful. i was just wondering what everybody else would do? would you wait till monday and start ringing or write again or just leave it
( i kept a copy of the later saying i would receive a response by 1/12 just in case)
many thanks in advance (soz for rambling!)

Can you give more info?
What exactly was messed up?
Where you awarded anything or was your claim rejected?0 -
i was told that my claim would start from April (as i hadnt worked or claimed since then). i applied in june and I was awarded in august after i went to the CAB and explained my situation + they rang on mybehalf. i was told by three seperate people that my claim would be rebated from april. i was finally told that it was up the tax credit agency how much they would pay back and as each case is on an individual basis I should appeal for it to be looked at properly.
it sounds a bit silly now chasing for money from then but you know when you get told you will be receiving something and obviously at this time of year i could really really do with. especially as i still dont receive any Child support of my daughters dad (thats an entirely different thread!!!!)
thanks x:eek:

I lodged an appeal in September against our award from last year (the date they stopped paying us, and they ignored the fact DS2 was registered with Connexions), and was told if they needed any more info I'd hear by early November. I've still heard nothing, and when I phone and ask they just say 'it shows as in process' :eek:Cheryl0
