Am I crazy wanting to plan a wedding in 6 months?

I admit I'm slightly insane already but I don't want a long engagment and would ideally (but not got heart set on) like to get married in June 09.

I know that the biggest thing to worry about is getting a venue booked as we want an "all in one" venue in a pretty place.

Just wondered what your views are:o

It can be done - my own was organised in 6 weeks:eek: admittedly it was a long time ago.

Start looking now and see if you can get married mid week as opposed to a weekend when it will be more expensive. June is the busiest time of the year to get married in so try looking at May and July as well.

We've been looking at venues with a view to get married next summer and there has been plenty of mid week availability, but then we don't have a particular date that we want, so are flexible. You will struggle to get a Saturday in June, unless they have a cancellation.

    It can be done EASILY

I started organising a May wedding this month, and it's mostly all sorted. We are having everything in one place as well - saves a lot of bother.

Mind you, you might find a saturday a little more difficult, but other days work out cheaper anyway.

If you find a place before Christmas, I think you will be fine. After that, you'll be competing with people who got a ring in their stocking. :) Fridays and Sundays will be easier to book than Saturdays too, as mentioned.

DD told us she wanted to get married (to partner of 10 years) when we returned from holiday in September. She wanted wedding in November (close to her birthday). This week they celebrated their eigth anniversary! We had a fantastic time planning it, everyone took on different tasks and it was a fabulous day. All at one venue is definitely easier and cheaper. Good Luck!
  • If you said 6 weeks then yes it's a tough job but 6 months is easy.

Things you need to get onto straightaway..

Wedding dress - as they have a 3-6 months order time sometimes
Venue -but considering a Friday date like I did will give you more availability
Cars - but again a midweek wedding will give you more choice and even some discounts
Photographer - same as above. I am photographer and taking bookings for 2009 now.

Enjoy the planning its really exciting!

It all works out good in the end.

We booked our venue in January this year for our July wedding (on a Saturday). We booked a gorgeous hotel with a beautiful garden setting for the actual wedding.

It can be done easily in 6 months!

    Good luck x

Post reported. Jeez, what is it with the amount of spam on this board at the moment?
