This morning all site names in buttons in the IE status bar are reduced to a single letter, and also in the listing in Windows Task Manager/Applications. (eg just "M" for this site). Have I accidentally flipped an option? Or been virus-infested? Or...?
I'm new to XP, having just acquired new PC before Christmas - was on Win98 before that. I've tried the "Log off, power off, switch on again" first remedy, but it doesn't work. I use AVG anti-virus and the XP Firewall.
Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Try System restore.. Start,All Programs,Accessories, System Tools,
System Restore, now go back to a time before this happened.. may work.

You're a star, Intel. I read that thread and tried the "uninstall Google toolbar" approach, and it seems to have worked. Have reinstalled Google toolbar, and it still looks OK.
Thanks very much!0
