If it was me I would buy a cheap charger via Deal Extreme ( Hong Kong Based company ) Well Trusted by myself but a Longer postage time re postage ( but it's direct from Hong Kong !? )

But as for filling the Ipod up with games/Stuff I say 'DONT' Because half the fun with anything ( For a guy anyway !? ) is putting your own stuff on a BRAND NEW item ?, not one thats had its plastic ripped to get into the pack ?? ( maybe it's just me )
The Charger costs about Four POUNDS or you could goto Argos and pay +/- 24 quid !?0 -
Just to clarify, you don't need a charger. It charges while it's plugged into the computer. It's a handy thing to have, though not essential.
An iTunes gift card would be a good idea, so he can open an iTunes account with it and get himself some music/games/videos.0 -
You can install itunes now (free download) and start importing any cd's you have ready for the ipod
If while on holiday you don't have access to a PC then it's be best to buy a charger, personally I wouldn't buy a cheap one from HK as you can't guarantee they are safe - Play.com do one for £9
One you've bought the ipod register it with iTunes and it'll sync the music
The rest I'd leave for your son to customize0
