How to record audio of abusive neighbour

My numpty of a neighbour often mutters abuse at me when I walk past his house. I usually now take my mobile and have it set on sound recorder. But it doesn't really pick him up. He's usually a few metres away or shouts out his window. Is there anything I can buy that will pick up the sound from further away?

Just stick it up and make it OBVIOUS your recording his 'abuse'
1 ~ he cant take it off you and if he did its a matter for the police
2 ~ he might shut the hell up then

There is a 3rd here as cleary ive no idea what hes like ~
    He might go absolutely nuts

You could use a parabolic microphone of some sort:

Although I suspect the sight of you walking past your neighbour's house wearing headphones and pointing a large parabolic dish at him might stun him into silence!
  • I think most people might disagree with me here Doonhamer, but personally I'd be tempted to hit back, with some choice insults myself. Honestly, I don't think he'd bother you if he thought it wouldn't be worth the hassle you gave him. Perhaps some opinions from more level headed people might help though (I'm just home from work and could clobber anyone right now! ;) good luck)

Just wave cheerily and say hello Mr Whatshisname, How are you today? He's a bully and as soon as he sees he's not bothering you he'll move on to someone else.

If he ever misses you walking past one day I'd be tempted to knock and ask if he is ok as you were worried not to see him.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
