Icesave linked account closed

Just received 2nd Icesave email for wifes ISA. Her linked account is no longer open - in fact the account Icesave wants me to transfer to was one I have NEVER given Icesave - it was closed long before I opened her ISA. I opened her ISA direct from our joint Icesave easy access account.

Also the 2nd email she received was completely different to that I received - could this be fraudulent?

What is the deal - I assume I need to contact FSCS and get a paper form to claim the money. Sorry if this has been covered previously.

TIA

Surely the only option if she has no linked account, whether the 2nd e-mail is fraudulent or not?

Others have reported differently-worded 2nd e-mails being received, if you search the forum.

UK Icesave customers should be aware of fraudulent emails (27 November) FSCS has been informed that there are some fraudulent emails being sent to UK Icesave customers from fraudsters posing as "banks" or "FSCS". The emails state that individuals need to confirm their bank account details through a link embedded in the email in order to complete their transfer from Icesave. This is not the case, please ignore these emails.
  • Honestly the only way is to get an official paper form to claim the money that is rightly yours.
  • I received first email 5/11/08 1.09, but have never received a second email. Yesterday a letter & form arrived from FSCS which I have completed and returned. I wondered if this was because I don't ever remember setting up a linked account when I originally opened my ISA? The Customer Services Team number is 020 7892 7300- might be worth you giving them a ring if you've got worries about your linked account
  • Thanks everyone very much.
