Claiming insurance from a business trip

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this enquiry. I recently had a business trip where I left my (rather costly) suit in the wardrobe at my hotel. Is it possible to claim it on travel insurance? In general, when an item has been lost on a business trip, is there generally an insurance policy through your company which covers these types of incidents?
Would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks,
Mohini

The company should have cover for you whilst you are away, however not all do. Either way, I doubt that you would be covered because the loss was due to your own negligence. Sorry xGone ... or have I?0

Didn't the hotel try and contact you to say you've left something behind and offer too send it on to you?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

You need to speak to your Finance Dept or whoever in your company is resopnsible for business travel about this. In my case when travelling on businees I tell the finance dept when and where I'm going and they issue me with a certificate of insurance for the trip. That certificate has the details of the cover, emergency contact nos. etc.
Alternatively, what about claiming on your home contents insurance if it covers your possessions outside the home?0 -
What did the hotel say when you contacted them?I recently had a business trip where I left my (rather costly) suit in the wardrobe at my hotel.
Due to your own negligence you lost personal items whilst on a business trip, so to be honest, I doubt you have a snowballs chance in hell of claiming from your employers insurance. That said however, I am sure your employer can answer your question best. The MSE Dictionary

A more worrying question: were you in fact insured during your trip? It is unlikely that your own policy would cover you for business travel, and had you needed expensive medical treatment while you were away, this could have been extremely serious.
Your employer should certainly have arranged insurance for you, or at least ensured that you were covered in some way. You, however, really do need to make sure that you have insurance before you begin your journey.0
