VCR Issues

I have a virtually new VCR, used just once or twice and the sound/picture is less than i'd expect of a newish VCR.
When people pronounce S's, it sounds like they are pronouncing 'Eshe's and the picture quality is below my previous VCR's quality with alot of fuzz.
I've disconnected/connected all the cables and retuned and still I can't get it right, and it's the Sky TV Channel that has the biggest trouble, but that's perfect on channel 6 and not through the VCR.
Any helpful suggestions?
Thanks

I've sorted it.
