Help Loading New Memory

Have just received new 1gb memory for pc but when i switch back on the computer after fitting the memory get a blank screen. Do the memory cards have to be fittd in any set order? as i have 4 slots.

    you sure its the correct memory ???

    sometimes need to be in a particular 1 of the 2 spare slots on some motherboards for it to work

    and they can also be tricky bleeders to locate in the slot properly if you are not used to it . usually there will be a tab at each end of the slot which needs to lock down over the ends of the memory stick to secure it in place - if these are not locked in correctly (or if they are and the memory stick is stil loose) then the stick is not in the correct position.

    Thanks have now sorted it. It wasnt secured in place properly. Not easy to do!
  • Glad you sorted out your memory philng. I hate having to mess inside PCs, especially trying to get things slotted into their respestive slots - like recently with a GTX280 graphics card. You're pushing this big heavy beast and hoping that wafer thin part doesn't snap as you push into the slot and all that pressure that you're applying to the motherboard - I could see mine bending! :eek:
