    that's a bit of an assumption ...

Not really. Xvid is the CODEC of choice for the thieves on P2P and Bittorent.

Oh I do. I find the thieves who use Limewire, Piratebay etc quite funny. I've got yet another computer here to rid of viruses that it got infected with after the moron owner downloaded an apparent MP3 off Limewire only to find out to their dismay that it wasn't exactly what they thought they were getting and that as well as installing a virus, the virus it installed goes off and pulls other malware in as well.

Not decided what to do yet, whether to clean the malware off or just wipe the hard drive and put a fresh install back on. Whichever option I decide, they're paying £25 an hour for the privilige. You can buy a hell of a lot of legal MP3s for what the final bill will be.

Well yeah, i would agree with that but to make a flying leap and assume that everyone is a "thief" is a bit much, bearing in mind that bittorrent itself is legal and does also contain plenty of legal content.

It could be a fresh windows install, it could be donnie's digital camera, it could be a wedding video that has been professionally bought, paid for and encoded accordingly.

it could be any number of reasons so it's not really fair to suggest that the OP has downloaded illegal content.

Most have. 99.9% of Bittorrent traffic is pirated media.

And your figures to support this theory ?
