Help please

New to the forum so please be nice

I need some advice on something and i hope that somebody can help.

I will start at the begining


about 18 months ago i received a letter from RBS ( i dont bank with them) asking for a cheque book back & card. I rang them up and said i know nothing about the card or cheque book and knew nothing about having an account with them. they said they would look into it for me and get back to me in 7 - 14 days. They had an old address for me but knew mothers maiden name. said account was opened in 2000 which i would have been 13 so i couldnt have had a cheque book. They said i owed 580 for bank charges

Heard nothing so i thought they had sorted it and cleared everything with a case of mistaken identity.

Fast forward to now 18 months later go into my bank for account review like i do every 3 - 6 months, last went 3 months ago with nothing said.

Went today said i had a black mark and to get my credit report which i did
and guess what turns up this thing with RBS went to the branch local to me spoke to manager she said she cant do anything and to ring up their credit people and to ring her back when i have spoken to them.


If you have taken time to read this thank you and i appreciate any advice given

Is it a default or CIFAS ?

sorry whats CIFAS?

They told me when i originaly spoke to them that it is bank charges.

And forgot to mention i have a credit card and small loan with my bank and nothing has ever come up before until today and the card is only 6 months old.
