Cheaper Calls to 0844 Numbers? Any Suppliers?

My GP has recently introduced a 5p a minute 0844 number. Tried to get alternative number. No joy.

Does any one know of a supplier that provides cheapercalls to 0844 5p numbers.Like 18185 do with 0870.

Unfortunately not. Do you not have the old number, or have they cynically changed it?

If you have an O2 mobile, you can call from the inclusive minutes.

Otherwise, not much else to do except protest about it ...

go to https://www.saynoto0870.com and get the sample letter from the forum to extract 01/02 number from your GP.Under the Freedom of Information Act they are bind to release such number if it exists.Even homeoffice has released its 01/02 number to volunteers of Saynoto0870.com

Not sure if this good or bad. My GP also started to use an 0845 number. It is more expensive to call but at list we can get in to a short que system. It was a nightmare to get to them before on the 01 number (always busy). So I guess the capacity of 0845 systems is larger than 01??

If its an 0845 number and not an 0844 number your Gp has got,at peak rate you can call it for 2p a minute via https://www.dialaround.co.uk which is less then what Bt and most other suppliers would charge you to call an 01/02 number at peak rate, unless you had an inclusive peak call package.

At E&W its cheaper to use BT to call 0845.

NGN numbers like 0845 still require geographical numbers to piggy back on. They dont increase the answering capacity on there own. He has probaly got a new switchboard with extra lines.

The phone number isn't what defines the system size - surgeries are being lured by salesmen for these schemes, who emphase high costs of replacement pabx equipment

Nowadays it's possible to set up a virtual exchange without any hardware whatsoever, except phone handsets of course.
