                                  in Credit cards

                    Hi all,
This is my first post so please bear with me - I may have posted in the wrong forum so please redirect me if I have.
Basically in 2005 (back when we were naive spendalots) my husband and I had credit cards, he, then my boyfriend, had HSBC and Egg, and I had HSBC Mastercard.
Basically we are getting a mortgage on our first home and have had to take an adverse credit mortgage due to my husbands credit history.
It is showing defaults on his EGG card, amongst other things, most of which appear to be wrong!!
So we are trying to sort these things out, but egg claim they were never paid, but my HSBC card has a balance transfer of just shy of the amount owed to egg. I asked for the statements to try and clarify if this was indeed as I suspect a balance transfer to egg, however these arrived without the first 3 months of statements.
So...I call HSBC who cannot seem to shed any light on this matter and run me round houses telling me to write to a "back office" and request this information, when contested i was told i couldnt be put through on the phone as they had no phone line, but i could fax!!!! How kind!
Eventually, after being told the call centre person "did not want to waste peoples time on the phone with this matter" I insisted on speaking to someone in the UK. This man was much more pleasant but still could not help me.
This was from July 2003 and I had assumed they would still hold details of the transfer, so - i suppose my question is....do they have to? Or am i just blindly living in a land of hope that they have just lost them? Without this prrof I cannot say to egg that they were given the money and have not put it in the right account or whatever.
I should add we had no correspondance from egg since this time and assumed all was paid, its only checking credit reports that showed this up...else we would still be in the dark!
Thanks in advance for advice/help!

I Though it was 6 years, you might want to repost in the reclaiming bank/credit card charges forum, as lots of people there would have had to request info.
If that's correct I would quickly pursue HSBC through their complaints process else you may fall outside the 6 years.0 -
I dont want to reclaim though - its not a reclaim issue - i want to know if im entitled to know where that money went and if there is ant burden on hsbc to show me where it went as the place i though it went say they never got it, but HSBC cant tell me if it went to Egg ir to bloke next doors auntie Jean iykwim?Im new to posting here but a long time lurker, so don't be mean if I post in the wrong place, just let me know nicely and I will not make the same mistake again

An issue such as this cannot be resolved over the phone, as both HSBC and dazza.mk have already informed you.Anyone?! I dont want to pursue this over and over on an 08 - whatever number if there is no chance they will ever be able to tell me where that money went...cheers again.
If you don't know how to make a SAR, then visit the reclaim board where someone will tell you how to go about it.
If the information you receive from the SAR is still insufficient, then you make a formal complaint...in writing.0
