Buildings Insurance rebuild value?

Trying to sort out best deal for parents in law who are moving to a new build house with no mortgage.

When I did mine I got the rebuild value off the mortgage valuation. As they haven't got a mortgage, we can't refer to this.

Who would have it, the solicitor or the builders - or someone else?

Any advice would be appreciated.

  • As previous posts have indicated a lot of insurance companies now go on type of house ,date built, how many bedrooms, and post code.
    Most will offer unlimited cover.

I changed my buildings insurance last week through this site...when they asked for rebuild costs I gave them the value of the house. They phoned me up and told me to go on the website of the association of british insurers...I think it was abi.org or .co.uk......you can google it. It has the calculator on that they use...and it knocked £275 off my insurance....on the site just go to rebuild costs
