abbey wont swap my old abbey card?

hi
5 years ago i was bankrupt- since then i have opened new bank accounts with abbey and have managed my money - never falling into a problem, 3 yrs ago abbey offered me a credit card whilst i was opening a saver- i reminded them of my history but they said it was fine, i used the card stupidly nearly to the limit !(1900), each month i pay more than the minimum roughly about 150 but its only payin half that due to interest, i have never missed a payment, anyways when santander announced they will be having their own abbey credit card instead of the mbna one i applied to transfer, i didnt hear anything, then an adviser reccommended it so i applied again and was refused- it doesnt make sense? they gave it to me and its still an abbey card?? ive since opened a full surrent account no problems- still cant understand why abbey gave me mbna abbey card but 3 yrs later not the santander one to transfer the balance to- they also say soon i wont be able to pay my abbey mbna card in an abbey office?? HELP- i just want transfer the balance? and pay it off.

I'm not sure there is anything you can do if they dont want to give you a new card, thats up to them. Have you tried approaching another provider? I'm sure the fact you have no problems with your current card will work in your favour but I dont know whether its enough to offset the bankruptcy.

Sorry I cant be more help.
  • thanks- i havent even tried another card firm - been a bit scared too which isnt a bad thing - i just want to pay off the existing one which i thought transfer would help knock off a wack of money ?
