Does the wireless router have to be in the converted garage? Can you not re-locate it to where you want WiFi coverage? e.g. extend the telephone line. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

(sorry just noticed - i wrote router - MEANT BOOSTER!0 -
My brother bought a couple of these:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=221008
and was very pleased with the results. That model only supports 802.11g - which is prob good enough for most users - but if you look in the Homeplug Networking section of their website there are higher-spec (more expensive) models.0 -
BUT I'M LOOKING FOR A WIRELESS SIGNAL BOOSTER - not a d**n router
why cant people answer the enquiry properly!!:mad:0 -

Did you bother to read the info?Wireless ADSL modem and 4-port 10/100 switch combined with Powerline technology:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

If you'd looked more carefully or asked, you would find that the £30 device I pointed to will do exactly what you want. Just link one via a short ethernet cable to the modem in your garage, set the other one up in the house as a wireless repeater.
I'm not sure why I bothered typing that.0 -
fwor: just out of interest: is setting it up as a repeater just done from the interface (quite straightforward i mean?) - there just wasn't any mention of it being a 'repeater' in the maplin link (might be a question of terminology); 2ndly, does one need to also buy a poweline adapter in order to accomplish what u suggest? thanks:)BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

I'm sorry - I don't know - my brother set them up in a house miles away, so I didn't see how it was done.
You ~could~ buy a powerline/homeplug ethernet adaptor for the "garage" end instead, but it's no cheaper that way. Just turn off the wireless function at that end.
As to the ease of setting up - I don't know that either, but my brother's not a comms expert and he managed to get it working ok.0 -
