Income Support/ Incapacity Benefit

Hi guys me again...

Just a quick question why do i need to supply income support with a doctors note??
I mad a claim for IB as i was told i couldn't claim IS then to be told 2 weeks later i should have claimed IS and that i wasn't entiled to IB, i then recieved the IB50 form wahats this all about i filled it out sent it back but have heard nothing been reading that it could have been sent out by mistake i'm very confused!
I'm waiting for my doctors to ring as my normal dr aint back till after xmas and the new one dont know anything about my problem i'm house bound not sure if he will write me one or if he will come out???

Any ideas???

I think this looking as though you are being expected to claim "Income Support by reason of Incapacity" which is what is paid when you are "incapable" of work and have paid insufficient National Insurance Contributions in a qualifying period (2 previous tax years I think). If you have completed the IB50, the next move is theirs - they will probably request that you attend a medical. It is worth giving your processing centre a call to clarify things - esp re. your lack of Dr's note and being unable to leave the house.

You should supply the DWP with med certs until you are told not to. I would give them a call if they have not asked for them, or if they have not yet told you to stop sending them.

thanks to you both for replying, i rang just to be safe they said that i haven't paid enough NI for IB but i still need to supply a medical note from the Dr's i have an appointment on tuesday i hope i'll be ok i can't leavethe house but i've got to.... IS owe me since October...Will be nice if it was given before xmas they said it will be back paid!!!!

Good luck for your appt, if you can't make it perhaps they could do a house call? x
