Does anyone have any experience of these?
Available at Tescos till stocks expire (Running low at southend) fo £14.99. Last time I saw these they were reduced to £49.00.
Anyway, as far as I am aware just about all of the extra services available have to be paid for but the telephone part is normal.
Can anyone confirm this?
Also does anyone have any experience of conecting the phone up to a PC or other device(mobile perhaps?) to take advantage of some of it's features?

Anybody know if any Tesco stores in Kent have these too, they look the nuts and for £15 I got to have it :snow_laug0

Are you sure its the newer video version and not the original Em@iler?0

Tesco's Bangor was doing the original Amstrad Emailer phones for £14.99 on New Years Eve....0

They are pretty good, I had the original one and even if you only use it as a regular phone and answering machine, they work very well.
Be aware however that they cost around £60 a year to run - it dials a premium rate number every so often, to grab new email and screen adverts. I've heard of people configuring it to dial as though it was on a PBX (so the premium calls fail), but apparently the phone will cease working altogether if it is unable to dial the number after so long.0 -
Bear in mind the costs to run this thing ! 15p per day to check for email just once a day ! 5p per minute for surfing and a load more for video calls - plus £1 per fax.
It will also send unsolicited adverts to you!
At £15 it is good value for the components and runs a linux O/S so might be of use to those that are prepared to play around with it ! I'd like to see it hacked so that it can be used as a browser plugged into my broadband network !To infinity and beyond!0 -
The one in Blackpool at £15 is the OLD one with no video - the video one is still £49.99. I bought the £15 one but took it back 'cause it costs 20p a day to run! Phones a premium number every night for some reason!!0

Tesco Stafford - £14.99 for the emailer pro.

Saw these today in Tesco Extra in Barrow:
Reduced To Clear at £9.79 or something close to that.
They had loads!!
Not strictly MSE as these are quite expensive to use, but they used to be about TEN times this price!!
Looks like someone else has spotted these as eBay has about 40 for sale at the moment!!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
This is only of use to people who are quite technically inclined, caveat ends

These URLs might be of use of people who want to repurpose this end of life hardware . At the most basic if you use VOIP and want email at your VOIP endpoints just set your PABX to trap the premium numbers and point to a CHAP line to your own mail server.

Please no qestions about this here Redfox and co are busy enough! Create a new thread in the VOIP sticky or the I wanna do it and PM me the link. I will not reply to Question here as this is the wrong place IMHO.Seth.0 -
