virgin will not honour the offer online

Can anyone advise please.

I ordered a tv and phone package online on 24th nov, the online info stated 'save up to £30 when ordering online'

When confirming my order today on the phone, I was advised he knew nothing about an 'up to £30' offer, but a £50 offer if i had BB too. But I dont want BB!

Ive checked online, and the offer is still there..its in the red triangle

http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/product.do?id=10258

Ive taken a screenshot, but how can I prove what day I took the screenshot? (as now Ive been told that this was an old offer, where you got £10 for each service, hence the 'up to' and it should not be displayed on the website anymore).

There are no links or small print to show conditions or finishing date to the offer, so how are people to know its not on offer anymore, until they have placed an order?

Virgin are likely to change the web page soon, which is fair enough now they know about it, but when I ordered it was there as an online offer.

Are they obliged to honour the offer as it was advertised on the day I placed the order?

I know im only talking about £20 (as ive only ordered 2 services) but if they advertise it, you assume its a current offer) and £20 is £20!!

Hope someone can see the link before they change it.

    Hi lindos90,

Had similar problem with them, took a virgin cc - online offer stated existing virgin media customers would receive £30 off their (tv, phone & broadband) bill and guess what they didn't pay up. Spent ages on phone to their customer services (who seemed to know nothing of the offer), passed from one dept. to next, eventually put through to someone who gave us a code and said to ring yet another number and give them this code to be credited. Did that - still nothing, phoned and chased a few months later, they now claim we didn't enter the correct info. whilst applying so they were refusing to credit the account. We argued the case and she said she'd speak with someone and call us back a couple of days later - never heard from her and still no credit!

I've since recommended a friend (they were going for the virgin media package regardless) for £30 for each of us and my partner has applied for himself a cc via our media account - yet to see if they pay out for those, but I won't hold me breath.

That's £90 they now owe me!!!!

Would be interesting to hear from anyone who has received their payouts.

Good luck & I really do hope you (and I) receive what's due.

p.s. their customer services are shocking!!

Thanks tra77.....your post describes exactly my mornings experience with Virgin!!!!

Every time you speak to someone they tell you something compleatly different, and you just get the feeling that they are not telling the truth, or will not do what they say they will.

Not a good opening experience with this company.

Doesnt fill me with any hope of getting the £20

If you take a print out the date is displayed on the bottom right corner of the page. Make a photocopy and send it with your letter of complaint.

Thanks, ive just printed this out, but its not showing the date, is there something extra I have to do before I print it to make it display the date?

Im sure they are going to remove it anytime, then I cant prove it was there when I applied online last monday...any ideas anyone?

Not sure. The dates always show up whenever I print out from a website. Try a different browser or printing from another location on another printer and if that doesn't work I'll send you the print out. You can PayPal me the cost for the stamp when you receive it:)

In your printer settings there should be an option to show date and time etc, make sure this box is ticked. I hope this helps.

Just a thought - a digital photograph of the screen? Or Save As the webpage?

Both will have a tracked time and date.

Thanks for all your suggestions. OH says he has printed the page and has date on, so this can prove the offer was still being advertised four days after my order was placed.....now to contact Virgin CS.....thats not going to be easy either by the sounds of it!!

Just checked online....and they have removed the offer off the site (the red triange is missing), so got the screen shot just in time I think!!!!!!
I feel its still going to be hard work trying to get the money back from them, and in the end might not be worth the hassle, but perhaps thats what they bank on!
