Right, us, me, them etc bit of a muddled up week but trying to use up for as long as possible before I do xmas shopping...........see what I can find in freezer, might be a bit repetative but needs must. Edit as I go through and find stuff, might need to day switch yet.

Sunday - Mince and dumplings, mash and veg

  • Well here we go at trying to be more inventive for the third week rather than buying ready meals. This is my 3rd week of storecupboard challenge, altho' I am buying a bit of meat this week to see me through as almost cleared the freezer out a last!!

Thurs - HM butternut squash and gorgenzola risotto
Fri - SC Shin beef casserole and dumplings
    Sat - HM chicken curry
Sun - minute steak and HM potato wedges
Mon - Frozen haddock, JP and frozen veg

Maybe only need to by sausages now but always get a bit tempted at the butchers! This meal planning helped to focus and realise I still have almost a weeks worth of food to go yet!:o

Lunch will be HM soup or leftovers

Also will do some baking, pickling (just in the nick of time for Xmas!) and batch tomato sauce cooking and soup making:T

  • Thanks, Pen-Pen. Here's mine for the week:

Last night (as I'd just got back from emergency trip to hospital): takeaway (I know... bad me :( Didn't feel like cooking)
    Tonight: Chicken Fajitas
    Saturday: Moussaka
Sunday: Chicken Pie with mash and veggies
Monday: Leftover Pie with something (on own, so don't mind what I eat with it)
    Tuesday: Tomato and bacon risotto
    Wednesday: Shepherd's Pie with veggies
    Thursday: Pasta Bake

Lunches will be sandwiches or leftovers, supplemented by cheapy chocolate bars (a weakness, I know) and some cakes if I can make some this weekend. Puddings will generally be ice-cream with crumbled biscuits over the top or yoghurts. I've still got my Christmas Cake to bake (it's a quick one so it doesn't really matter how long I leave it) so I might bung a sponge cake in at the same time to maximise oven use.

    Have a good week everyone.

All HM of course! Other lunches will be just sandwiches or such when the children stay at school for lunch. Here in France the children either eat school lunches or go home, There's no packed lunch like in UK. Mine eat at the canteen twice a week. Breakfasts are combination of porridge and toast. Afternoon tea is generally bread and jam, but I do often make cakes and biscuits too. We eat a lot of sourdough bread at the moment. Yeast is relatively expensive here so I try to make sourdough as often as I can and save money on the yeast!

Edited: forgot to say that we are eating up the cupboards and freezer at the moment, hence lots of pasta - my cupboards are awash with packets of pasta!
