Can I get advice on flea & worm stuff.

Molly is in the vets getting her tubes tied;)

I was thinking of using the Programme bi-annual injection for flea control.
Sterilises fleas & is £33.63 per jab, so £67.26 per year.

Or you've got regular frontline, which kills but doesn't sterilise. Works out about £16 (ish) for 6, so £32 per year.

OR Advocate, which just kills (but offers ear mite & worming too) & is £43.71 for a 6 pack, so £87.42 per year.

OR you've got Frontline combo, which kills & sterilises & is £34.97 for a 6 pack, so £69.94 per year.

WORMING

Miramax (sp?)
£5.83 per tablet, buy 3 get one free, so thats £17.49 for 4 (a year supply). But the vet says, while shes under 4 kilos, she only needs half. So even cheaper.

She was jabbed by the breeder, without leukaemia. They want £26.67 to give her a single leukaemia & then £26.67 for the booster in another 6 weeks, so £53.34!!!!!!!

They say that when shes due the booster in Aug 09, she will be able to have the multi jab them (that will be a lot cheaper).

I'm thinking of the Programme jab & the cheap frontline to offer maximum protection. The worming tabs are easy, its a good deal.

Am I being over charged for the leukaemia?

I've always used Frontline Combo @ £17.99 for 6, does ticks & fleas & have never in 8yrs seen a single flea on my cat. The Vet just changed her to Stronghold but I plan to go back to FL. I don't know about the regular one, mine just says Frontline Combo on the box. One of the Vets here suggested Advocate (Which I need to look into). Drontal wormer is £3.40 for 2, so much cheaper than the other & I *think* just as good. Mine almost always has drontal but 2x a Vet gave Miblemax.

I think Program isn't recommended or very good? I had it once fr a cat years ago but didn't continue. Sorry I can't be much help

The combo is the one you have to get on perscription, its £34.97 for 6 from my vets:mad:

omg! That's what I have 1 dose left of, that was from the Vet! I knew i'd seen Combo somewhere lol. I plan to buy normal Frontline for the dog unless I start seeing ticks. Yeah I think mine was about that price too from the Vet

or you could try having stronghold. then only a droncit tablet every 3 months or so

My vets didn't mention Stronghold...

is this for a cat?
if so monthly stronghold will protect against fleas, roundworms, and earmites. droncit will fight the tapeworms. cont protection againt roundworms is good as they can cause health problems in us esp. children

Yes its for a cat.

Shes got long hair, so good flea protection is vital.

She will go out, but hopefully just our garden (not "put out" IYKWIM).

She won't be hunting, but I will still worm her of course.

No children.
