Opening new account - unemployed?

Hello

Are there any banks that will let me open a new account if I am unemployed? My credit history is OK, but I am currently close to the limit on my Natwest credit card and near the overdraft limit on my overdraft. I am trying to open a new account to get an overdraft to tide me over until after Christmas. I have been travelling so my employment history is a little sketchy over the last year.

They will ask you what incomes you have and if you say '0' no one will give you an OD.

What if you say you have an income but won't actually have one for a couple of months? Is this a criminal offence?

And you may be asked to verify it via bank statements which obviously you wouldn't be able to do.
