My PC can't 'see' the dvd-rw!?

Options
Hope someone can help...

I've a Dell Dimension 3000 running XP.

Last week i noticed that the DVD RW drive no longer seems to recognise that a dvd has been loaded even if I search thru' Windows Explorer. It doesn't seem to 'see' any files therein...

It works fine with CDs...

Any ideas?

Cheers

Mark

    thats very odd.

have you tried blank as well as 'normal' dvds?

Do you know exactly when this started?

A quick fix might be to update the firmware in the writer but that might not be the root of the problem.

Another thing to try which can sometimes work with drives is to create a new user from scratch and test disks using that user. See if that works.

Maybe a XP Update has intrfered with the driver... or software try
going to the drives makers website to see if any updates are available.
