And maybe being incompetent at your job is almost as bad as being dishonest at it...0

I usually just keep the money if I am overchanged.....I know some of you may think this is wrong but I have no problems with it if I feel I should keep it. Like others have said I keep it if it is from a large company simply because I look at it as getting something of a bonus from a company that usually thinks of its self before the customer.
If it was a small company I would always own up as it just seems right, small companies go out of business all the time and usually this is due to low income and high rates, like someone else has said companies like Boots have contingency for loss so their prices reflect that (effectivly we pay in the long run but i'll live)
On one ocassion I did faulter from this on a visit to pizza hut. We were served by a young man who appeared to be new, he had no idea what he was doing and made a million mistakes (which I did compalin about and that were all sorted out) We could see that he was getting a lot of agro from his boss and he must have been so nervous that he have us too much change. I counted it up outside and then ran back in and gave him the difference back, bless him he looked so shocked and pleased, it made me feel pretty good. I was worried because they have their own money and it is counted seperatly at the end of the shift, he would have lost his job by the end of his first night at that rate!0 -
Bought an orange phone top up for £10. Women gave me my money back saying the machine wasnt working. Went outside checked my phone and it had a tenner on it. Didnt feel guilty at all they make enough money as it is.0

I was once handed a debit card recpeipt (to sign) for 40p instead of £40, I handed it back, but the trainee had already pressed ok - send. She was craping herself seemed pretty new, so I signed it and told her to ring in £39.60. Turns out only got charged £39.60, but I would have considered it theft walking out without paying the full amount. Might have been different if I had noticed later.0

Last year got the son some trainers from soccer sports -they put them behind counter for me-took some other clothes to counter and collected trainers, later on i realised they handnt charged me the £30 for the trainers.Just b4 xmas went to another branch of soccer sports and they did exactly the same with a £90 pair of trainers-was only charged for the jeans and belt i purchased (£17)-both times the trainers were not scanned so the till will not showing short and cashier will not get in trouble.
The moral of the story-
Go to soccer sports for your trainers!0 -
I have handed wallets/purses in full of money to stores, with my name and address incase of the person who lost the wallet/purse wished to thank me..... did I get a thank you? of course I didn't. And yes they were claimed. Yet when I lose mine, or my 9 year old son loses his pocket money in a spiderman wallet (clearly can see it's a childs) do they get handed in? ...I don't think I need to answer that.
I give to charities, all the Global catastrophes, owned up for being undercharged, and it does make me feel good, ...but some people talk about what goes around comes around. All I can say is I better have a front row seat in heaven!!! because I have seen nothing to show for my good will so far in :rolleyes:0 -
Are you sure that they were claimed, and that someone in the shop did not just pocket the money?VenuS wrote:I have handed wallets/purses in full of money to stores, with my name and address incase of the person who lost the wallet/purse wished to thank me..... did I get a thank you? of course I didn't. I almost always own up when I get overchanged but I do not know what is going on in the world. I was brought up to be honest and people think you are off your head when you take something back etc. We took sellotape back to hypervalue, realised it was under baby's car seat and they didn't even say thankyou but this weekend I bought something in a gift shop and she was going to give me my change as well as the £10 note I paid with. she was so relieved when I pointed it out.Money's too tight to mention!!!0

I like being honest and kind. I have a clear conscience and won`t be worried when I am on my deathbed ,when all the wrongs you have done in life are supposed to come back to you.

I always check, mainly due to the fact if they are not claimed within 3 or 6 months, cant remember which atm, you get to keep it. Im always happy they are claimed, but your right maybe, I have no way of checking if they did infact find their rightfull owner. If they did, then bahh humbug to them!! if they didn't, join the club, Im down now 3 purses, and I need deeper pockets!!0
