Car stereo / handsfree question

Folks :-
I've got a new mobile phone (SE C902) which I'm generally happy with, but unfortunately when I pair it with my bluetooth handsfree device it's too quiet and I can't hear what's being said to me. I've tried it with my wifes hands free device and that is also too quiet (and I've tried updating the firmware in the phone again with no joy.) So what I'm thinking of is connecting the phone via the car stereo, ideally via bluetooth. This must also be able to handle music / podcasts which I have on the phone as well.

I note there are some head units which apparently can do this e.g. Sony MEX-BT2600, but I'm worried about the built in mic not being anywhere close to where my mouth is so isn't it going to pick up loads of noise? (Anyone any got any experience / recommendations?)

Alternatively I could get something like the Parrot MK6100 which would allow me to keep my existing head unit and more importantly CD changer. But the Parrot thing is more expensive than a new head unit.

I'm confused  - any ideas?

Thanks

Kevin

  • i've got the cheapo (£60) lidl b/tooth head unit, the mic is on a long lead, so you just set it where you like (in my case top of driver side pillar). the device works flawlessly, sound quality is ok (I really need new speakers) but I have no idea about streaming media to the device, and suspect it won't do it, however the headunit accepts cds, mp3 cds, SD cards and usb drives, so plenty of options.
volume obviously controlled by the h/u, so loud as you like
