Cashing an old cheque

Hi,
I've been doing some 'filing' and have come across an old cheque (for about £90) which was refunded from my old home insurance provider when I moved house 2 years ago.
The cheque is dated July 2006. I've searched around for advice about cheque expiry and most people seem to think a cheque generally needs to be cashed within 6 months. Can anyone advise on what to do? Should I try to cash it, or am I within my rights to request a reissue of the cheque?
Thanks
Nelson

I think you have lost out on a 2 year old cheque.
It might be a 'mission Impossible' trying to re -issue it?
Anything over 6 months is normally redundant.Thomson 757 Man0 -
Id phone the company up and ask them for a reissue or if its ok to go ahead and cash (i know a couple of life insurance companies cut them off at 6 months if theyve not been cashed).
It might take a couple of days because theyll want to check that the cheques deffenetly not been cashed if they want to do a reissue but they should be able to find it.0 -
A cheque is valid for upto 6 years.
However banks can refuse to cash after 6 months.0
