Cheers Dave, I have found a Canon Eos 1000 for 319 with a lens so I thought that was good and I like it to look at as well.
What do you think on this deal?

6 megapixels is plenty for printing at A3. If you're doing lots of heavy cropping and enlarging you might want something with more, but then again you might not. The bigger a picture is, the further away people stand when they're looking at it. You could blow up a shot from a D40 to the size of a billboard and it would still look sharp.
IMHO, the number of megapixels a camera has just tells you how many megabytes the files will be. It tells you absolutely nothing about image quality.0 -
oh man, you confused me now! ha ha i think ill stick with my decision to go for the canon 1000d as its within my budget, just, but if i see a good or great offer on the d40 i may well go for that. Thanks for the advice.0

Im wary of the Nikon D40 as the megapixel is only 6.1,
Please, please, please, don't fall for the old "more megapixels are better gag !" It is a salesman's con trick - unless of course you don't know much about photography and just want to boast !!
