  • Cheers Dave, I have found a Canon Eos 1000 for 319 with a lens so I thought that was good and I like it to look at as well.
What do you think on this deal?

yeah im reading up all the time but I probably will need to enlarge to a3 fairly regularly.

6 megapixels is plenty for printing at A3. If you're doing lots of heavy cropping and enlarging you might want something with more, but then again you might not. The bigger a picture is, the further away people stand when they're looking at it. You could blow up a shot from a D40 to the size of a billboard and it would still look sharp.

IMHO, the number of megapixels a camera has just tells you how many megabytes the files will be. It tells you absolutely nothing about image quality.
  • oh man, you confused me now! ha ha i think ill stick with my decision to go for the canon 1000d as its within my budget, just, but if i see a good or great offer on the d40 i may well go for that. Thanks for the advice.

    o
Im wary of the Nikon D40 as the megapixel is only 6.1,

Please, please, please, don't fall for the old "more megapixels are better gag !" It is a salesman's con trick - unless of course you don't know much about photography and just want to boast !! :D
