I'm looking for a back up device so I can copy my various photos and movies over.
I've had a quick look on Amazon and for £50 ish I can buy a 500GB USB hard drive.
Is this the sort of thing I should use?
I want to copy the stuff over and then store the drive in a safe place.

^Yes: this question crops up repeatedly here (that's no bad thing, don't get me wrong; see the thread below this one); the preference for which drive is highly personal (and emotive!) on this forum. This is what I have (the price is out of date - it's much cheaper now from Amazon)...I think the WD Mybook is over-rated IMO

You can also look at the same deal posted on HUKD and read the positive reviews.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
I did it the proper way. Sorted out a load of directories and then burnt to CDR. Used about 9.Happy chappy0

Not very sustainable when you have as much data as 2 videos per DVD.....tomstickland wrote: »I did it the proper way. Sorted out a load of directories and then burnt to CDR. Used about 9.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -

Tom - do you have a Medion PC from Aldis?
Aldis sell external HDs which clip into the docking station on top of the base unit, eliminating the need for using an external plug to power the device. Works well for me.0
