We have sky HD in the living room
Sky + in bed 1
Sky in bed 2
We would like to buy a sky HD box for the bedroom & put the sky + box thats in bed 1, into bed 2. As the box in bed 2 has only one cable to the dish, it would require another cable to the dish.
So for a sky HD box & one cable, they quoted me £210:eek:      (£150 for box, £60 for cable).
I said I thought HD boxes were £75 now (they blooming weren't when we got ours:rolleyes: ), he said that was last month & its finished now.
If we (or DH rather:rolleyes: ) were to forgo the HD box in the bedroom & just buy another sky+ box for bed 1 & the one cable install, any idea how we could do this cheaply?
Thank you, for any ideas.

Threaten to leave, maybe compare to Virgin's costs, should get the price down. This is a good help as well: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/1133805689,837380

Strange, they are usually pretty good. I would suggest calling again, as with any business you do get some people who just don't care, maybe you got one of those.
Just phone up, say put me through to the disconnections department as you want to cancel your subscription and move over to Virgin Tv. They will either ask why or put you through and then ask why. Tell them you can get a better deal elsewhere, if they ask you what it would take to keep you ask a customer, say a cheap HD box.
Remember, don't be guilted into actually leaving if they say no. They won't close your account unless you confirm it with them, just say I will think about it and phone back if I decide to leave.0 -

TBH I think with my package (all the channels, HD box & 2 x multiroom) they will know its a bluff.0 -
The original box was £75/£99 whatever because it was subsidised. There is no such subsidy on a second box so you pay full whack.0

Well a lot of customers do it, so they are bound to be used people bluffing to get a better deal. But then again they can't afford to lose any customers, especially with Christmas fast aproaching, as after Christmas is when a lot of people cancel. Take a look at that article there is a lot of good info in there.
Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose!0 -

I know what you mean, but I'm not doing the old "can't afford it, money getting tight" routine, I'm after another upgrade.
I think its easier to get money off if youre not increasing the package.0 -
go threw to cancelltions and say that u are not happy with what they offered u. they will either give u a discounted hd box or discounted instal.
i thretended to canx a few weeks ago as my normal box wasnt working rite nd they asked me £65 to get an enginner out as its out of warrenty.
when i went threw to canx they offered me a free sky+ box and £30 service call to instal it and fix teh other box.
the enginner ended up leaving me 2 new boxes .
so with sky it is worth ur wile to complain0
