I've just read the Asda press release, in this it states "a 3Gb laptop for £375", not the £275 in the original post. I'm not having a go, just pointing out what appears a genuine mistake (typo?) Thanks to the OP anyway0

People are getting mixed up with the VAT change to 15% which of course is completely unrelatedDont forget that the VAT on something is 17.5%
But the VAT in something is 15%, so dont go mad with the check out person if they only take 15% off.
Example £10 + VAT (10 + 17.5%) = £11.75
£11.75 - VAT (11.75 - 15%) = £9.99
I dont mean to imply people people are stupid or anything, I just wanted to make it clear, so people dont expect 17.5% off thier bill (unless of course Asda state 17.5% off).
Taking off the VAT means a reduction of 14.89% (which you've rounded to 15%) but I suspect Asda will give a 17.5% reduction due to their huge newspaper adverts today

No, but you may need to buy extra food to feed the Hamster on a wheel that powers it. :rotfl:We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
