I think it's either an accurate figure for a low user, or, more likely, a summer quarter multiplied by four or a calculation using estimates. I did suggest OP checks this as, I agree, it does look too low for most households.
Agreed. We are in a 4 bed house with (mostly) 5 people living here and ALWAYS someone in during the day and, whilst our leccy consumption is silly (about 6000kwhs a year but there are logical reasons for that) our gas consumption averages out at 15000kwhs per year. That's with gas ch and gas hob (but leccy oven). I suppose when you have kids the gas is far easier to regulate being that they don't make things like gas-powered Xboxes or TVs etc.

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Monthly DD gas is normally supplied one of two ways:
1) Daily Standing charge plus fixed rate for each KWh
2) Tiered charge where the first 1143 KWh per quarter are charged at a differnt rate from the balance.
Looks like you are missing something out from your calculations?0 -
Thank you all you wonderful people for helping me figure this one out - I have just corrected the SP's overestimated figures on our usage and they happily put our DD back to £22 past January and onwards. - Yes, I guess we are an incredibly low user, judging by all your reactions - we just never thought about it, as we'd never got challenged over it before... Anyway, many thanks to you all :T:T:T0

The OP's choice of title for the post shows so many peoples lack of understanding that a DD sum, particularly at the moment, does not represent the cost of bills, it's a little more sophisticated than that, as I'm sure many understand.0 -

To be fair, if you think about it, the public's lack of knowledge probably keeps you and your colleagues in a job so don't be too hard on them.

It wasn't meant as a dig at the OP so I apologise it if was seen as that. It was a general comment on the education of customers that needs to happen by the suppliers - the press could also help but that doesn't sell copy so they resort to articles verging on hysteria, which creates problems for suppliers and confusion and anger with customers.0
