NPower Spreading a bit of Warmth!!!
After the overcharging by NPower and the complications of their billing system using the sculpting method, it now appears NPower may have some heart after all!
NPower now have a new tariff called ‘Spreading Warmth’. If you have a gross annual household income of less than £13,500 and where someone in the household meets at least one of the eligibility criteria below:
Aged over 60
Disabled
Suffers from a chronic illness
A child under 16.
You will be eligible to apply for a new tariff from Npower that delivers a total dual fuel annual discount of £250 Exc. VAT (£125 per fuel).
Perhaps this is the start of a new, improved, NPower???

The only problem is you are charged at the standard rate. What will you pay per Kw for gas & electric? Sometimes it may work out cheaper to take out an on-line tariff - cheaper rates - and pay by direct debit (duel fuel to get £100 disc). This may actually work out cheaper.
Npower arn't all they appear to be.This space is available to rent...

Ah, I should have known there would be a catch somewhere!
Welcome to the WHNC!0 -
unit rate up to 4572kwhr per year 8.719p
over 2.612p
and the small print says......any discounts for direct debit or dual fuel together with any
other features of the qualifying npower tariff continue to apply.... so you pay more per unit but get £250 credit and dual fuel credit £100.. hopefully..regards...bri;)0 -
Actually it's not new, it's been around for the better prat of two years, but they don't allow us to actively promote it on the phones and they don't advertise it.
Don't stop me telling people on here sometimes though ^_^0 -
It's actually a very rip off tariff. I would be eligible for it but based on an energy consumption of 7519kw of gas and 3539kw of elec against their sign online 14 tariff I would be £100 a year worse off on their "stay warm" tariff. I thought these tariffs were supposed to help people on low incomes not rip them off!0

I have applied for this just the other day.
Following redundancy in October and with both electric and gas on prepayment meters we are struggling to stay on top of the costs.
We are currently living on the minimum the government says we can survive on for a family with three kids yet npower says we have £7 a week too much to be eligible for this, surely this cant be right can it???0 -
It does not matter if you are £7 or 7 pence over the threshold. If you earn too much, you don't qualify.0
