Just like to say that I don't agree with all of these cheap flights anyway, for green issues, which is why our flights are always for the OH and our daughter, not including me, as I refuse to travel on them.

Remember that in the old pre-budget airline days, you would often have flights with way less than 1/2 seats occupied. These budget tickets are being used to fill empty seats that would have been causing pollution anyway.

Gawd - I hadn't heard about that one (the link to blind people being thrown off the plane). The one I was referring to was the explicit "wheelchair tax" that is/was included in the huge breakdown of extra charges added at the checkout, in an attempt to bamboozle you into thinking your flight costs less than it is, and all these things are not poor Ryanair's fault, oh no, but nasty governments' and airports', etc etc etc.

As has been mentioned, if the airlines paid tax on fuel then the environmental damage of all these flights might actually register on the scale when it begins to hit the pocket.

well i booked up for Glasgow - Pisa just before xmas and paid £10 return each including all taxes. Strange though i was going to book in the morning but i couldnt be bothered to fetch my card from the other room, the price was then £20 pp inc tax. By the afternoon the price had come down to £10pp inc tax.
I dont actually understand how the tax price fell during the day as the flights in both cases were 1p each way, but hey it was a good trip and well worth a tenner of anyones money.

Just how often, and how empty, I wonder?

Yes, but not as much pollution as full seats (with the weight of the passenger and luggage).

Free Flights Offer - Pollution???:confused::confused:

Er Sorry! But what the hell is the connection here?

Do something intelligent and compile a list of things around us that DONT cause pollution either in their manufacture or their usage. :snow_laug

Meanwhile let the rest of folk take full advantage of a cheap flight without caring about unrelated subjects. Ie They will pollute whether the seats are used or not!! (Shakes his head in dismay!)

Air travel is hugely polluting compared with other forms of travel, but you do not notice this because it is subsidised because of the lack of tax on airline fuel.

It's pointless to try to divide things into two categories - the world is analogue.

Glad to see you're now calling them cheap flights though:p

Sure, planes are heavy polluters but that is a subject for the discussion forum.

If I saw fags available at half price I would let fellow MSE'ers know about them. For that matter if I saw cannibis available 'on offer' somewhere I would let folks know, too. I don't have to advocate their use.

I assume most people on here are mindfull enough to make their own choices.

On here, you lot are no better than religious nuts trying to enforce your views and I say that they aren't welcome. Just think about what MSE is all about!

As said, your views are beter suited to the discussion areas wouldn't you agree?

Try finding one for where and when YOU WANT to go. I wanted a flight from East Midlands - Murcia in March (not for me, I made a promise not to fly with that airline) fair enough I couldn't find a tax only flight, checked for Jan and Feb out of interest, take a guess?

He, Mr Hotair, needs bought down a peg or two, comes across as arrogant beyond belief.

Why does the cost of the flight make any difference to how green it is?
Can you point me to the evidence that shows for example that a 100 seat plane from glasgow to london is less green than 50 cars doing the journey instead?
    Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
