Help Me Get Rid Of Bt

ok im with BT grrrr and think im paying too much.
I have a standard package (bt together option1) and i have BT broadband
Both of which are costing me around £150 everytime my bill comes in(every 3 months or however long it is)
now none of that is calls, well a very small amount is.the average cost of my calls is £5 as i use mobiles to call.I simply have the phone line for my broadband connection and couldnt care less if it rings out or in etc.
There is no cable in my area yet and i really wanna change my supplier .
Ideally i would like to just have broadband and not have to pay the package price etc as it is of no use to me anyway.
Im in kent if thats of any use.
Any ideas people?
All i care about is having Broadband.

Could you clarify the costs please?

Are you paying a total price for phone and broadband which comes to £150 per quarter? Also out of that £150, only £5 of it is calls?

    Service charges £95.72
    VAT £21.44
    Brought Forward £5.00

Charges in advance for BT Together Option 1 - The hour plan £29.36

You seem to be paying £11.50pm for Option 1 - if you pay by direct debit this would be £10.50. Option 1 line rental has increase by 50p so new prices will be £11 or £12. It is thought to best still to have BT as your line provider though as it gives you the opportunity to use low-cost providers for calls.

Your calls don't come to that much and you don't say what kind of calls you are making but you could reduce this by using a CPS provider such as Primus for free evening & weekend calls and then using Call 1899 for daytime calls at 3p per call no matter how long you are on.

As for broadband you seem to be on £24.99pm for 2mb with a 20gb cap. You could possibly reduce this by joining Tiscali who are doing unlimited 2mb broadband for £17.99 or broadband with local & national phone calls inluded for £19.99.

So if you went for Tiscali it would cost £92.97pm if you went for the calls option or £86.97pm if you used the Primus route.

P.s. just as a side note, I only get your last bill to come to £128.94 - where does the other £25 come from to get to £153.93 that you quoted as a total?

Just been doing some looking around - Tiscali seem to have a very bad reputation so maybe not a good idea joining them after all. There's always Toucan but I've no idea what they're like.

I'm having trouble with the maths here.

    £ 6.98 Calls
    £ 0.20 Allowance
    £66.36 BB
    £29.36 Option 1

I make that £102.90 so the VAT would be £18.01 (where does the £21.44 come from?).

Also, even using the £21.44 VAT figure, the total is £123.94 (where do you get £153.94 from?)
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

and as for calls i make..there isnt a specific time i call anyone..its simply if i need to make an urgent call and my mobile is out of credit.
I never make long distant calls and rarely make mobile calls

It looks like your landline and calls are almost as cheap as they can be - the broadband at £26 a month seems the large element.

Pay the line rental by direct debit, saving £1 a month. Look into cheap calls providers for those few calls, and find a cheaper broadband option. The first two are worth under £10 a quarter on your usage, and the broadband up to £50 depending what you go for.

I've just read your OP again. Kent seems to be an area with more wireless broadband options than elsewhere ...
