Is there any point in contacting Littlewoods, given that they are closing branches daily, and have been bought out? Are the underwriters still liable?

i bought a chainsaw which broke on the first go from index - it has took me 6months but i have finally had the cheque and cashed it - so, i would say yes contact them, but, put it in writing - i will try to find the address i used and pm you it.
