Can anybody help me out. I'm looking to go to Cairo in march with a mate for about a week. Anybody no of travel companies that offer good deals, or when it would be best to book. I'm hoping to travel from Edinburgh, but am willing to travel to another airport if I can get a better deal. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your suggestion. Will take a look.
Id avoid FlyGlobeSpan if i were you. They have a notoriously sketchy safety record and recently some of their aircraft were grounded due to non compliance (they knowingly flew a plane which was unsafe across the Atlantic with Passengars onboard)
I have always found the cheapest to Cairo are Swiss.0 -
There's not many direct flights to CAI.
You could always stay in Sharm, Or Luxor - There's more flights to Luxor than CAI.
You have to be 'Streetwise' in CAI, Watch where you are going & your wallet.Thomson 757 Man0 -
Thanks for the suggestions I was considering Luxor, and Sharm, but for seeing the pyramids, and sphinx Cairo looks to be the best.0

Sharm is full of chavs and council estate mums who are a size 18 but wear a size 12 costume.
Fly into Cairo with Swiss for a few days and then get Egypt Air down to Hurghada for an amazing beach holiday.0 -

My advice would be go to Luxor and then get an internal flight with EgyptAir to Cairo, 2 days in Cairo will be enough to see the Pyramids/Musuem/any other sights you wish. Internal flight will cost around £30 to £40 return.0

We(5 of us) went to Egypt in September. I spent a lot of time looking at tours and flights, and here is my accumulated wisdom!
1 I agree that 2 days is enough for Cairo ( unless you want to see every mosque there)
2 Luxor would be a good base, and you could see the Valley of the Kings, Karnak etc, and do an internal flight to Cairo. We thought the bazaar was more fun than the one in Cairo!
3 Closer to the time, you can probably get a cheap flight/hotel deal to Luxor, as it seems to cater more for the package market. We flew Manchester to Cairo with Lufthansa, changing in Frankfurt, but with a package we could have flown direct to Luxor.
We also went to Aswan - it is only a dam, but the town was sweet!0
