When I moved house. They informed me that I had to either pay them to break my contract or stay with them for my house move.
Well I decided to stay with them. They explained to me that it was standard for them to inform me that I may well be charged an engineers fee at the new property. I was also told that I had the choice of continuing the order or not once they had established if an engineer was needed. They said that they would inform me if I had to pay and would ring me so that I could cancel if need be (they had my mobile number & my nan's number).
Well I had no phone call from them & was suprised when a bt engineer turned up. But as they had not informed me of the cost I assumed (wrongly of course) that I did not have a fee to pay.
I have this morning received a bill for £176 which is due to be paid by direct debit on Monday!!! I have no way of paying this as my £650 rent goes out on Monday.
The bill states that it has call charges from sept to the end nov.
When I requested the house move I was meant to be staying on the package which allows all calls (except premium, international & mobile) to be included.
Obviously they have not been included as they are charging me for them!!
I was led to believe that I had this package until end oct when I got broadband from them as well.
It is now over 2 months since the phone line was connected & I have got a massive bill!!
I have tried talking to someone at their customer services who told me to talk to their home moving team. The problem is the man I spoke to had problems understanding me as I have a really broad accent and a chest infection!! After my conversation that got me nowhere I can hardly talk.
What on earth can I do???
