Hello,
I have recently opened up an Alliance & Leicester e-saver2 as a second savings account so i can save any additional money i dont need or get from my ebay adventures during the month. I'd like to setup my halifax online banking to be able to transfer this across once a month but i need the sort code for the Alliance & Leicester, any ideas what ill need? as its not like i have a branch as its a purely online thing.
Or have i got this wrong?
Thanks.

With Alliance and Leicester I know the current account is a 9 digit number but when transferring money to it you have to lose the first digit and add it to the following sort code.
72.50.0x
so if your account number is: 123456789
your sort code is: 72-50-01.
You can look this up on the help section of the online banking once you have logged in, I'll find the exact wording.
View Accounts
If you need to quote your sort code and account number for paying money into your current account from an external source (including Direct Debits), please use the following details:
The sort code is 72-50-0x - with 'x' being the 1st digit of your 9 digit account number.
The remaining 8 digits of your account number should then be used for the account number for the payment into your account.
Example:
If your account number is 987654321, the sort code will be 72-50-09. Your 8 digit account number to quote is 87654321.
This is for your current account you could always transfer it there first and then do a regular transfer to your savings account through online banking. This signature was previously violated by my wife, that'll learn me to stay perma logged in.
Fortunately, the offending comments have now been removed - my apologies to all who had to read it and laugh at my expense.0 -
See http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/customer-service/user-guides/savings/esaver/page3.aspxFrom an account with another financial institution:
You can ask your bank to transfer money into your eSaver. The money will be sent by either Faster Payment / BACS (this might be referred to as a bill payment or funds transfer when using telephone or Internet banking) or by CHAPS payment.
Your bank will need the following:
Account number - You will need to quote the account number of eight zeros (0000 0000). This is the Alliance & Leicester Bank Account into which funds are received before going into your eSaver.
Reference number - This is your eleven digit eSaver number and can be found on your welcome letter. Without this number we will not be able to apply the money to your account and it will be rejected and sent back to your bank.
Sort code - see below.......
.....BACS payment. This is usually a free service that takes 3-4 working days. You will need to advise your bank that you wish to make this type of payment and quote the sort code: Sort Code 72-58-100 -
