help !!! balance transfers and joint accounts

Options
2 things hit me like a hammer after reading the latest ccards article.

1. i have a mint card that is a balance transfer card whose offer will expire in feb. I have just read the cutoff point is 1-12-08, for new cards, after which your credit file may take a whopping if you apply for a new bt card.
I always pay the minimum amount by dd, but am nowhere near to paying it off.

2. secondly, I have just opened a joint bank account with my wife, who will have no rating as she is from overseas.Will/has this affected me? There is only a cashcard on the account, but we have a joint utility bill together to enable her to open a bank account.

I have recently failed a D.I.P for a blt mortgage with the hbos group, for no reason as far as I could see,and they certainly did not tell me why.The brokers tell me that hbos leaves only a soft print,(or bm solutions anyway).

I'm hoping for some advice here, which card to go for for bt's, or not bother because of the impact.

much appreciated
