average cost and best supplier?

Hi everyone,

Me and my husband looking to buy a 2 bed semi house( sale just going through)This is out first house and neither of us lived on our own before, therefore we are very new to all bills etc.

So im just wondering if someone could give me an average guide price for a month for a dual fuel and recommend a best supplier. We both will be out most of the day and will use energy saving light bulbs etc, i think approx light and other electric app will be working on average 4-5 hours a day and heating 4-5 hours a day in winter.

Thanks alot for your help.

Welcome Def...Supposed to be £1200 a year average so £100 a month duel fuel.
Low users £50 a month or less.
Aim for at least a thousand quid.
Take your readings the minute you move in, you will be deemed to be on a contract with the existing supplier, until you have worked out your consumption and moved.Keep weekly records including also water use.
When and if moving your new supplier will arrange the transfer. Online accounts are cheaper, Ebico gas is cheapest. and their electric a tad dear, and they have an ethical setup.
Southern Electric have a good admin.... nPower and BG a poor service record.
  • just done my first reading for living here for nearly a month and its 22 quid electric for the month. i think thats great considering that 2 people have been home everyday for the past month and tv on, lap top on, electric showers etc.

im expecting gas to be around the same kind of mark, no more than 35 though as we dont have the heating on that much.

im thinking it will stay around that price as i will hopefully be working shortly and my partner will be home every day for about 5 months of the year with tv lap top etc.

    good luck

  • its british gas at the moment, but are in the process of transfering to eon as comparison sites have them coming up as a bit cheaper, plus with the tesco clubcard deal thing they will work out alot cheaper as will save money on food bill.
