Hi
Many moons ago I bought a web address of our surname.co.uk for £1 and have the certificate for it, and it you look at it it is still connected to me. At the time I was with Force9 (now Plusnet), moved many times since then and now with Talk-Talk. Still haven't managed to get round to doing a web page (on my retirement list) but would like to use the address for email. If you type it into the browser it comes up with advertising for F9/Plusnet saying a web page has not been added to it (very true) and a link if it is mine to their tech help page. However, not sure I as I only have a dial up account with them if I can still use their web space or if Talk Talk give me space, I know I need to look that up). However someone decided to use jac@surname.co.uk and use it for loads of spam, I don't want or need jac as a first name, and it still receives loads of not nice spam, quite a lot for parts of the body to be enhanced that I do not have! Any idea how I can eliminate that name linking to the web page?
How can I set it up as an email address for me, and send it to my outlook?
Thanks
DG

You need to alter the settings of your email web server. If you don't have a web server, you'll need to pay for hosting and set the DNS to point to the hosted account.
I have found https://www.betterwebspace.com both cheap and friendly to use for hosting.
(As you say you receive spam, you must already have access to an email server.)0 -
Not necessarily. The company you registered it with may do free email redirect so you can tell them to send mail sent to <whoever>@domainibought.com to <me>@<mycurrentemailaddress> or a hotmail/yahoo/gmail address if you have one.0

But that won't solve the problem that jac@surname.co.uk is receiving spam. She needs a proper email server.0

OK I have just spent the last hour working out how to log into Force9 after all this time, luckily I have a good memory and knew the pw the new username took longer to figure, but hey oh.
It would appear that Force9 are providing a email server for this, as there is a mail in there to udteig@surname.co.uk -as I have never tried before to use this name, it must be just a random try of known surnames that found it, this was advertising software. jac appears to have disappeared though thank goodness.
I have just tried to send a mail to me@surname.co.uk but so far it has not arrived, maybe it takes longer for that type of mail. I have no problem linking Force9 to my outlook to receive them, but what if my son wants to have his sent to him, and how can we use that address to send from?
Thanks again
