Faulty Item under warranty - Ebay Seller not repsonding

Hi All,

I bought this item from Ebay 7 months ago which came with 12 months warranty.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370115148100&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm38%26_nkw%3D370115148100%26_fvi%3D1

Recently, the TV has stopped working, I cannot recharge the battery nor run it on mains power, i.e. the unit is now pretty much useless!

The seller is still trading and selling the same item. I've emailed them twice over the last two weeks to ask for an address to send the unit to for repairs under warranty (as stated on their item listing) and forwarded them my proof of purchase. I've had no response, nor have I been able to get through to them by phone as it is switched off and their mailbox is full.

I am unable to raise a dispute via paypal due to the item originally being sold 7 months ago. I rang the Ebay helpdesk who were unable to help me, due to how long ago the product was sold.

Can anyone help me? All I want is to have the TV repaired/replaced/refunded?

Many thanks,

BDJx

  • That seller was no good for me either so I left negative feedback.
You could take him to court, but that would take £30 plus time and effort on your side...
  • Thanks for your reply.

Can I take someone to court if I don't know their address?

Do you have their address on any invoice or anything? Very difficult to issue a claim without an address.

Is there a manufacturers guarantee? May be simpler.
  • I cannot find the invoice. I do have a Paypal receipt which proves the purchase but that only has the sellers phone number on it, which has been switched off.

I've checked the box for the item and as it's unbranded, there are no manufacturer details either there or on the manual.

  • If they were still selling the same item perhaps if one bought another, one might mix them up. necessitating a SNAD.

But if seller is astute enough and still has the moaning emails and serial numbers they could go to the police and the op would get their bottom spanked.

    And the BBC's watchdog programme.

I would NEVER ever make a purchase of this type from eBay. Quite frankly eBay is overrated anyway, you can get most items for the same price or less from your local high street.
  • I cannot find the invoice.

Until you find your invoice, you've got no real hope of a refund in anycase.
